Marine Sgt. Ross Gundlach served alongside a bomb detection dog named Casey in Afghanistan, serving in over 150 missions that created a bond that Sgt. Gundlach could never forget
After their tours, they were both reassigned to other missions, with Casey going to Iowa State Fire Marshall’s office to detect explosives. However, when they learned Sgt. Gundlach was working to adopt Casey, they wanted to do the right thing and get her home.
Sgt. Gundlach was surprised during a ceremony when he learned that his appeal had already been granted and Casey was waiting to go home with him!
It’s such a wonderful feeling to see our servicemen with the dogs that helped them make it back home.
