2017 Pull for Puppies Tug of War Tournament
Pull for Puppies is a large charity tug-of-war tournament that will be raising money for Operation Kindness – North Texas’ largest 100% no-kill animal shelter. On Saturday, April 8th, the DFW Humane Society will be hosting the Wag, Walk and Roll fundraising event on the Campion Trail (North Irving – begins at Java Me Up – 401 Cimarron Trail #150, 75063) from 9 AM to 11 AM. This is an annual fundraising event that raises money to help hundreds of pets find their forever homes. Our Walk is a bit different. There is no predetermined distance or time to walk. You can come out and walk alone, with your dog, with a team, or, for a small donation, walk a shelter dog. If walking is not your thing, you can still participate as a virtual walker! 23rd Annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival
Six blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment district, 2900-3400 Main Street, Dallas TX 75226, will be transformed into one enormous street festival. Featuring 200 top-notch decorative and visual artists, 150 original bands and singer/songwriters performing from seven different stages, the renowned Pet Parade, and enticing foods and drinks. Festival attendees can stroll through displays of cutting-edge decorative arts and admire, commission, and purchase the works of sculptors, muralists, jewelers, painters, leather and wood crafters, and other specialized fine artists, some of whom will be creating pieces on the spot. Operation Kindness has partnered with Pets for Life and the City of Carrollton to host a pet health clinic for the underserved community in Carrollton. Vaccinations, microchipping and city licenses will be available at no cost to low-income pet owners. The no-kill shelter will also provide spay and neuter humane education to attendees. The event takes place at the Crosby Recreation Center in Carrollton.
