His new owners had sent him back because he had a stained face. I went to see him and it was love at first sight. I took him home and cleaned and trimmed him up. I changed his water and food. I had an allergy test done for him and found out he was allergic to almost every kind of grass, weed, and several types of food. Willow was the ONLY white one! I was looking online one day and happened to see her picture. I applied to adopt Willow thinking that she was most likely already taken because she was so cute. Then again, I do love the ladies so if you have a submissive female dog at home, I’d be happy with a new fur-sister! I haven’t had the chance to mingle with small kids but if you have older kids, I would love to meet them. It would be awesome to be around my people as much as possible – it gets lonely being home alone all the time. Hey, I’ll even go running with you! I’m a pretty handsome guy as you can see from my […]

Dogs of the Week: Nala & Drogon
This week we have two Dogs of the Week, Nala and Drogon! Nala, 2 years, and Drogon, 3 months, are both Rhodesian Ridgebacks who live in Austin, TX with their owner, Wynonah. They are big fans of the outdoors and love to hike, climb, and explore. They love to all food, even veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, but their favorite food is bacon. They love to travel, and their favorite spots are Zilker, Telluride, and especially grandma’s house – where they are “spoiled beyond belief!” The pet peeve for both of them is bath time. Wynonah tells us: Nala was very lonely at home when I had to be at work, and though she got free range of the house, she still found the cat to be not much comfort when Mama was away. Drogon, the new puppy, has become her right hand man. They are so cuddly and sweet together but definitely know how to rile each other up! Watching them interact has made me the happiest person alive knowing I could give Nala the companionship she deserves. And you best bet they get mounds of love when I AM home and able. We sleep in a pile on […]
Dog of the Week Apollo
Meet our newest Dog of the Week, Apollo! Apollo is a 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier who lives in McKinney with his owners, Casey and Aaron. He started competing this year and has two first place and one second place novice wins. He loves frequenting local patio restaurants on the weekends where he can meet new people and help change people’s perceptions of pit bulls. Darcy enjoys sleeping next to Shelley and playing with her best friend, Indy. Her pet peeve? Getting her nails trimmed. Shelley tells us: “I have other small dogs but Darby was the first larger dog I have had since I was a kid. I adopted her after a really tough period in my life to walk with me since my small dogs tucker out too soon. I adopted her thinking she was part Lab and would only be 40-45 pounds, but it turns out she is a Husky-Malamute mix with a coat like a yellow Lab. The most special thing about her is her soulful eyes…and that she loves me! The photos are of us at Wags and Waves, with her best buddy Indy in her recliner, and the final one is her right before I turn out the light every night …that is the face I see.” Congratulations to Darby for being the DallasDogLife.com […]

He and I have had at least one motorcycle ride together every day since he was 5 weeks old and he is always ready to go! Until recently, Embyr had never ridden in a car. He ended up getting a popcorn coma and I had to sneak him out of the emergency exit before his old man dog snores drowned out the movie. He also enjoys geckos – and you don’t want to know what I mean when I say ‘enjoy’.” His pet peeves include when Robert forgets to make the bed in the morning, wrinkled bandanas, and the smell of lemons. Joey is also offended by tile floors, fireworks, and flies. Alice tells us, “Joey was the last Paws in the City dog rescued by Trisha Todd before she started Metroplex Mutts. Meet Jasper, an active 3-year-old Australian Shepherd who gives his mom plenty of photo ops! Jasper is owned by Ashley D. of Garland, Texas. Jasper likes to swim, hike, and perform tricks! He also likes to beg for treats; his favorites are Bravo, Orijen, Nature’s Variety, and meat, meat, meat! Jasper says, “My pet peeve is when my owner gets mad at me when I’m trying to get my roll on some good smells!” Jasper’s mom Ashley says, “Jasper is my first ever experience with a dog. I loved training him so much that I became a dog trainer and pet photographer.” Congratulations to Jasper for being the Dallas Dog Life Dog of the Week!
Meet Princess Ada, a 1-year-old Chihuahua who gives her mom courage in her fight against Muscular Dystrophy! Princess Ada is owned by Mariah F. of Dallas, Texas. Ada likes to sleep and cuddle most of her day while at home, and likes getting all the attention when she’s around people. Ada also likes to be called her nick names more than her real name, and her favorite treats are Wellness WellBars. Ada does not like it when you ask her if she wants a treat if you’re not going to give her one! She also doesn’t like to have her picture taken while she’s trying to sleep. Ada’s mom Mariah says, “My dog has changed my life because she inspires me everyday, puts smiles on my face daily, and gives me strength to be a good dog owner. I have Muscular Dystrophy and she makes me feel as normal as everyone else is in this world. She brightens my days when I am down, and i just couldn’t ask for a better dog. She has her own Facebook page and profile where we advocate for shelter pets.” Congratulations to Princess Ada for being the Dallas Dog Life Dog of the Week!
