Dog of the Week: Buddy

Dog of the Week: Buddy

Meet our newest Dog of the Week, Buddy!

Buddy is a 10-year-old Staffordshire Terrier who lives in Oak Cliff with his mom, Michelle.  His favorite treat is french fries and he loves wearing sweaters. In fact, he has a vast sweater, vest, and scarf collection and you’ll rarely see him “naked.” His pet peeves are people who won’t give him  french fries and not getting to go to brunch.

Michelle tells us: “Buddy showed up in my front yard about 9 years ago. He was scared and skinny. After 10 days of feeding him hot dogs, I finally earned his trust enough to get him to follow me to the backyard. I sat on my steps and said, Please be nice to my dogs. He slowly crawled up into my lap and put his front paws around my neck and gave me a hug. I think I knew he was meant to be mine from that moment on. I put him up for adoption through a local pit rescue because I already had a full house with 3 cats and 2 dogs, plus my foster puppies. Well, a few months into it, Buddy became very ill and the vets thought he might have lung cancer. We treated it first as pneumonia and sure enough, that’s what it was. After he got the all-clear, I just knew he was mine and would be my forever dog. I didn’t realize at the time how huge a part of my life and heart he would become. He is my soul mate. Buddy has helped me foster over 100 dogs and puppies in the last nine years and is an amazing ambassador to his breed. He adores kids of all ages and truly is a special boy. I’ve taken him to many a bar patio and hear people exclaim “Hey, that’s Buddy the smiling pit bull!” The boy has a fan club.”

Yep, Buddy’s superpower is that he is always smiling! Buddy and his smile are even entered in a Cutest Pet Photo Contest #Vote4MyDog. He’s in second place and would love to have your vote! Click here to Vote 4 Buddy!
