I received this email from Rekka Melby of Take Me Home Pet Rescue, and it just touched my heart. This poor dog is now on her way to a better life but needs our help. Please cross-post if you can! Thanks, Yvonne
Hi Yvonne,
Well we’ve got another doozy of a story for you so wanted to send it in in case you want to show her story on your website or FB page…Take Me Home Pet Rescue was recently contacted by a teacher that was looking for help with an injured dachshund.
A few days ago, the teacher took her student to buy dog food. While they were out they came across some stray dogs so stopped to feed them. A little injured dog came out from under a house looking for food. Her right hind leg was bent awkwardly and she couldn’t use it. The good Samaritan (Megan) couldn’t shake the image of the injured, skinny and shaking dog so went back and approached the owners and they agreed to sign the dog over.
From Megan: “She was hit by a car on a busy road and that this was an old injury. The family started her out as an inside dog, but threw her outside once she got fleas. She was thrown into a yard with other (large) stray dogs. She dug a small hole and created a safe haven underneath the junky house. From what I could tell, she fended for herself for her food.”
This poor dog never knew a day of love until Megan stopped to help her. We are so thankful that Megan had the courage to speak up and take action to help the little dog now known as Miss Emmy. Although our rescue group is full, we agreed to squeeze her in and she is now living it up with her loving foster family, Paul and Renee. The decision has been made to amputate her leg so she is undergoing surgery this week. Her vet bill is $2000 so we are hoping folks will find it in their hearts to help by donating towards her care. We have a generous donor that will match donations dollar for dollar up to $1000 so please visit our online fundraising page if you can help by clicking here:

Below is a video we created to document Miss Emmy’s story:
She was sadly living in a hole under the house. Very heartbreaking. We think she’s about a year old so once she recovers from her surgery she’ll be available for adoption through Take Me Home Pet Rescue, www.takemehomepetrescue.com.
Please let me know if you need anything else, thanks Yvonne!
