Here is Cleo’s moving tribute from her Mom:
Cleopatra Queen of Our Hearts, by Eda Gensor
Our little Cleo was very much loved. I called her my perpetual puppy ‘cause her face never seemed to age. Cleo had cute floppy ears and her eyes were so bright and alert and full of mischief. When I looked into them it always seemed like she was thinking about or planning her next move. My husband loved the way her eyes looked like shiny turquoise jewels in a certain light.
I knew Cleo was the girl for me from the moment we first met. There she was, just six weeks old, in a laundry basket with her siblings and she was the one growling at her mother. I was sure she would be feisty and full of personality and, boy, was I right! What I didn't know was how intelligent, energetic, brave, and curious she would be and how those traits would frequently get her into trouble during her puppy years.
Cleo was as loving as she was bright. Every morning I'd say “give Mommy a hug” and then she'd put a leg on each side of my neck, put her adorable little head against my face and sigh.
Whenever I returned home, Cleo would usually greet me with, what I called, her bird singing voice. Difficult to describe, but it was beautiful. She also had many different barks which she used at mealtimes. She'd try a different one every few seconds to let me know it was getting close to feeding time.
I could always depend on Cleo to cheer me up after a bad day. Cleo & I shared a very special bond and I miss her dearly. She will always be in my heart.
