Meet Sammy, an 11-year-young Llewelyn Setter whose main job is to inspire her owner!
Sammy was adopted from the SPCA by Amelie M. who lives in the Bluffview neighborhood of North Dallas. Sammy is Amelie's huntress and muse to many of her pet portraits. (Amelie is the artist behind AmelieArt.com.) Sammy's favorite spots are perched on the top step, scoping the yard for her next prey...or in the bushes as camouflage. She is great at her dinner dance and when it's cookie time, she runs through all her tricks in record time. Sammy loves, loves, LOVES cookies. And cheese. All Amelie has to say is "Dogs love cheese" and Sammy will come running. At times, however, Sammy needs her space. "She mostly doesn't like listening to me. Such a loner," says Amelie.
More from Amelie: "It is all about the art of the escape with Sammy. She waits all day for me to make a mistake by leaving the door or gate open so that she can escape. My wild child. Speaking of, when she's home she loves to be held like a child in my arms. Quite a site."
Congratulations to Sammy for being the DallasDogLife Dog of the Week!

Unfortunately, even the most careful of pet parents may need to find emergency care for their dogs. The first step is to be prepared. Find an emergency clinic close to your home and post their number in a prominent place or save it to your mobile phone. If your dog shows signs of serious injury or trauma, you can call the clinic for advice and if necessary, inform them that you are on your way with your dog so they can prepare for your arrival. |
