Several rescue organizations and shelters report that black dogs are harder to place. There are no formal studies to back up this claim but countless shelters and rescue groups report that black dogs do not get adopted. Many shelters use the phrase: “Black Dog Syndrome” to describe this unfortunate problem.
There are two locations and days for this event.

Summary of Activities for Black Dog Barkapalooza
* PetSmart is the primary sponsor. We will have 30-40 dogs on-site. We will not feature pure bred dogs. Our dogs are mixes of several breeds. The dogs will be "dressed up" and ready to find their forever homes. Profiles of each dog will also be available to give potential adoptive families a little insight into each dog’s personality. Come out and let our dogs show you how much love they have to give.
* Children will be entertained by a balloon artist/magician and a face painter.
* Raffle prizes including an autographed copy of "The Dog Bible" and a gift certificate for boarding in a luxury penthouse at Toothacres Pet Care Center.
* Bring your old cell phones and printer cartridges. Drop them off to be recycled to benefit the environment and Animal Guardians.
